Kinston Police Department Executes Search Warrants, Seizes Marijuana, Firearm, Cash, and Other Contraband
On August 13, 2025, detectives with the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT), assisted by the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE), executed a search warrant at 1404 Old Snow Hill Road.
Inside the business, investigators located approximately over 70 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, a handgun, and $362 in U.S. currency
At the time of the search, Kamal Alzanam, 36, of Kinston, was behind the register with the items located. Alzanam is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Alzanam was taken into custody and charged with:
-Felony Possession of Marijuana
-Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
-Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver (PWISD) Marijuana
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Sell/Deliver Marijuana
-Felony Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Marijuana (3 counts)
On August 14, 2025, detectives with KPD’s VCAT Unit, in conjunction with Lenoir County ABC Officers and the Lenoir County Narcotics Unit, executed a second search warrant in the 1400 block of St. James Place. This warrant was obtained as part of the ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of marijuana related to 1404 Old Snow Hill Road (U.S. Mini Mart).
During the search of the residence, investigators located:
-Multiple handgun magazines
-$106,320.00 in U.S. currency
-Approximately 5.5 pounds of marijuana edibles
-Passports and identification documents
Detectives have obtained warrants on Abdullah Ahmed and Ehab Abdulla for multiple counts of Sell/Deliver Marijuana and Felony Conspiracy.
This remains an ongoing investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
