Too many women mistake cruelty for care. They let men speak to them with venom, disrespect, and control—thinking it's just words. But words are often the first wound. And when we ignore verbal abuse, we risk opening the door to something far worse.

My niece, Kieyatta Butler, was a beautiful soul. A mother of three, she was strong, loving, and full of life. But she never saw her death coming. She was taken from us by an abusive boyfriend—someone who chipped away at her spirit long before he stole her future. If she had known what was coming, she would have done things differently. She would have walked away. She would have protected herself and her children. She would still be here.

Her story is not just a tragedy. It’s a warning.

🚨 Verbal Abuse Is a Red Flag

When a man talks down to you, mocks you, controls you, or makes you feel small—that’s not love. That’s a warning sign. Abuse often starts with words. And if those words go unchecked, they can escalate into violence.

👩‍👧‍👦 Abuse Hurts More Than the Victim

Kieyatta’s children are now growing up without their mother. Her parents, siblings, and friends carry the weight of grief every day. Abuse doesn’t just hurt the woman—it devastates everyone who loves her.

⚖️ The System Is Failing Us

Too often, the judicial system protects abusers more than it punishes them. Restraining orders are ignored. Charges are dropped. Victims are silenced. We need reform. We need accountability. We need justice.

💪 A Message to Every Woman

You are worthy of love that uplifts, not love that destroys. You are not here to be someone’s punching bag—physically or emotionally. If someone talks to you like you’re less than human, walk away. If someone makes you feel unsafe, tell someone. If you’re scared, you’re not alone.

Value yourself. Protect yourself. Love yourself.

Let Kieyatta’s story be a turning point. Let her memory be a light that guides others out of the darkness.
